Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Barista on a bank basis based in London. In return you will receive a competitive hourly rate of £11.05ph. About the Barista role: An exciting new opportunity has arisen within a new and vibrant coffee bar at the Darwin Court Healthy Living Centre. We are looking for a Barista to deliver the day to day operation of the coffee bar. Including the making of a range of coffee bar drinks, some food preparation, restocking, delivery of goods, ensuring its smooth running, excellent delivery of this service to all customers whilst creating a strong community feel. This is a zero hours contract where you are paid for hours worked. The contract offers flexibility with periods of non-working. There will be a combination of compulsory and flexible hours that you will be required to work. You will be required to cover for employee sickness absence, annual leave and any other absences. What we're looking for in our Barista: Knowledge/Experience/ Skills required: Proven interpersonal skills - able to develop good work relationships, enjoy meeting and working with people at all levels and from diverse walks of life Good verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure while remaining welcoming and friendly to customers Proactive Experience in working with a fast paced, customer focused environment Qualifications required: Basic food hygiene certificate The successful applicant will need to be subject to a background disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) before any appointment can be confirmed. What you can expect to be doing as our Barista: Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment. Clean service or seating areas. Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning. Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them. Order, receive, or stock supplies or retail products. Receive and process customer payments. Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, Panini s, or bagels. Stock customer service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items. Take customer orders and convey them to other employees for preparation. Wrap, label, or date food items for sale. Create signs to advertise store products or events. Set up or restock product displays. Slice fruits, vegetables, desserts, or meats for use in food service. To lead and promote a positive health and safety culture, ensuring, as far as practicable, that activities are carried out under your control and in accordance with Peabody Health and Safety policies and procedures. You may be required to undertake specific Health and Safety roles such as Fire Warden or First Aider as part of your duties.
