This is an exciting time to join our multi-award winning communications team.... Cheltenham Borough Council & Cheltenham Borough Homes are developing and implementing a new shared service model across the communications and marketing function and your role will be to give support to our communications and marketing manager to deliver this. You will also help shape & achieve our high value, innovative and consistent approach to our external and internal communications and PR activity, supporting key corporate initiatives including the Golden Valley Development, £180m housing investment plan, No Child Left Behind initiative and our work around the climate change agenda.

You will support and develop our communications team working with proactive and reactive communications activity, including the creation of bold, engaging, innovative social media content, management of the press office, and continued solid, positive internal and external relations with key stakeholders, the press, members, officers and partner organisations.

To be successful you will need:

  • A degree or professional qualification in marketing, public relations or a related discipline or experience of a similar role
  • Experience of supervising a team to deliver engaging, innovative and bold communications for an organisation
  • Proven experience in creating content for social media platforms and for local and specialist media
  • Ability to relate to, and build relationships with, people at all levels
