Our client, a successful and well-established manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to assist in managing the H&S for their site in Goole. You will support the Main Manufacturing building in Goole as your core working area, and advisory role in other functions in the delivery of a safe working environment. This role would suit someone with previous experience in a similar role (HSE Advisor / Health & Safety Officer / HSEQ Adviser etc.) Responsibilities: • Support the Senior Management in the preparation of H&S, and Occupational Health Surveillance strategies to support the overarching Business objectives and project activities. Develop reporting metrics to monitor progress and corrective actions • Provide technical support and advice for key business projects. Ensure that H&S, and OH Surveillance has been correctly considered and the appropriate action taken throughout each stage of the project from initiation, development, through to implementation into production and review. • Ensure the safe installation and commissioning of equipment, and that regular inspections/ maintenance plans are put in place, trained and adhered to • Set and oversee the expenditure of the H&S budget. For this to include surveillance, facility enhancement, testing, legal compliance and training delivery etc. • Carry out regular safety audits and inspections to check that the appropriate H&S policies and procedures are being properly implemented • To ensure that the necessary risk assessments are carried out. Offer advice and support in the consideration of how to remove or mitigate the risks identified. • Support in the formulation and writing of safe operational procedures which identifies and takes account of all relevant hazards and ensures legal compliance • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, management and disposal of hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, HV Awareness and COSHH • To be the main contact for local authorities and regulatory bodies (HSE, Council, Environmental Agency, Fire Brigade etc), and arrange the necessary audits and communicate reports and corrective actions to relevant parties. Keep records of inspections and issue recommendations for improvements • Ensure that the necessary monitoring audits are competed for noise, isocyanates etc, reported and recommendations communicated, and that the necessary health surveillance plans are in place. To include audio, respiratory, DSE, manual handling • Produce management reports and drive the H&S awareness agenda across all departments through developing a 12 month communication plan. To include the recording of incidents and accidents, statistics for managers and Chair the H&S Committee • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues, their responsibilities and risks. To include behavioural and technical training, and maintain training records • To ensure that adequate first aid cover is provided across all sites, and that individuals have the appropriate training and equipment to perform their role • Support the Facilities Manager with the delivery of H&S initiatives and corrective actions • Responsible for your own personal development by attending Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and reading professional journals etc, use this knowledge to develop others through the sharing of key learnings • ISO 45001 certification arrange for recertification through external agency. Take lead in ensuring internal and external Audits results are closed within timeline. Requirements: Relevant qualification within the discipline of EHS or working towards Relevant experience within a similar role (experience within the manufacturing industry is desirable)
