SCHEDULE

Weekend night trauma in house nurse. Must have acute care experience, level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred. Holiday call required on a rotation basis.


JOB SUMMARY

OurRegistered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highestquality care in the most compassionate way. Perioperative RNs assess, plan andimplement the nursing care plan for the patient throughout the preoperative,intraoperative, and postoperative periods. These activities include patientassessment, monitoring the surgical field, patient education, monitoring thepatients condition, and integrating and coordinating patient care throughoutthe surgical care continuum.   • Youwill plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans before, during and afterthe procedure to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Youwill create and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment.
  • Youwill monitor patient vital signs, sedation levels and physical / emotionalwell-being.
  • Youwill provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staffwithin the RNs scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
  • Youwill provide pre- and post-operative patient education and emotional supportappropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance.

During surgery, the perioperative nurse mayassume any of the following responsibilities:

  • Scrub nurse assists the surgeon within thesterile field by passing instruments, sponges, and other items needed duringthe surgical procedure.
  • Circulating nurse works outside the sterilefield observing the surgical team from a broad perspective and assists anywhereneeded.
  • RN First Assistant directly assist thesurgeon by controlling bleeding and by providing wound exposure and suturingduring the actual procedure (role requires additional education and training todeliver direct surgical care).

Qualifications

Educationand Experience:

AssociatesDegree in Nursing required

BachelorsDegree in Nursing preferred

Atleast 1 year of nursing experience in the Operating room

Licensesand Certifications:

CurrentTexas RN license or a Compact RN license from a NCLA Compact Staterequired. If Compact, a Texas licensemust be obtained within 90 days of hire date.
