Job Purpose:

This position will be responsible for coordinating and preparing the Treasury, US, and Canadian Annual and Quarterly Statutory statement filings in a timely manner. In addition, the Statutory Reporting Analyst will work closely with other areas throughout the Company, including Reinsurance, Tax, Investments, Legal, Compliance, and Actuarial to ensure complete and accurate filings.

Key Responsibilities:
Coordinating or preparing, and submitting all statutory filings for the US and Canada including electronic filings. Includes responsibility for maintaining an updated database of all statutory filing requirements by NAIC, States, and Canadian Provinces. Interface with state and national regulators, outside auditors and Canadian chief agent, to ensure compliance with required filings, and new regulatory changes. Foreign Exchange translation involvement required in preparation of various schedules in the quarterly and annual statement. Quarterly and annual report generation from the general ledger system (SAP).
Participates in determining the proper reporting treatment of complex or unusual transactions.
Maintaining updated quarterly & annual deadlines & filing requirements by states.
Participates in interactions with regulators and auditors, providing responses to regulatory inquiries from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and state insurance departments as well as supporting the external audit of the Statutory and Canadian Branch financial statements.
Completion of Bureau of Economic Analysis surveys and regulatory data call requests.
Coordinate and execute special projects as assigned including assistance with Treasury reporting, regulatory examinations, audits, and other miscellaneous reporting as necessary.

Key Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance.
2-5 years' experience in Statutory Accounting.
Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills using pivot tables.
Willingness to work required overtime when necessary at year-end & quarterly filing time frame.
Legal and technical know-how, basis for understanding of legal environment, and advanced technical systems.

Key Experience:
Deep understanding of regulatory environment and statutory insurance reporting requirements.
Ability to design, test & interface large amounts of data / calculations between technical systems
Ability to keep up with and comply with changing regulatory requirements of multiple countries
Strong knowledge of technical accounting, reporting and regulatory requirements.
CPA or Public Accounting Experience is preferred

Key Skills:
Project management skills (a plus).
Ability to multi-task; work under pressure to meet stringent deadlines.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with other members of the Finance team as well as work independently & accurately.
Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills for business dealings with governments, auditors and regulatory agencies .
Effective at time management.
