The Digital and Data team has recently been revamped. We are creating a high performing team that can provide excellent support to the complex multi functions of the WMCA. Our key aim is to deliver a robust, high-quality customer-focused Digital and Data function to our stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a time when we re modernising our ways of working and delivering significant advancements in our digital services and your expertise will help develop and shape our future vision and implement cutting edge technologies. The Systems Developer will be integral for the coordination and development of ICT systems and Solutions for WMCA and partners at a senior level, in line with timescales and budgets. This post will provision the internal and public facing systems and services, whilst also championing the WMCA and Transport for West Midlands websites. Please note that this is a 12 month fixed term contract. What will you be doing? Responsible for the development of a portfolio of ICT systems in line with the client s specification Work with all areas of WMCA to engage project management support and budget planning advise and solutions considering the specifications, data flows, key inputs and outputs, standards and performance measures for business solutions presented to the clients and users Develop, support and maintain the requirements, processes, development and support of WMCA financial systems in accordance with development best practices and financial regulations & legislation Implement and develop data driven solutions alongside the secure business critical systems, utilising highly sensitive personal data and reflecting any legislative requirements Analysis, design, development and testing using modern high-level language e.g. C#, Java, web development and Object Orientated Development Advise on provision of new systems and evaluate the cost/benefit of such new systems and developments Work closely with suppliers and contractors on complex and critical issues and negotiate and resolve both operational and development issues Provide technical and expert guidance and to advise clients on ICT systems development issues based on the principles outlined by ICT Strategy Translate client requirements into detailed work programmes through highly specified project briefs specific proposals for solutions development, modifications or replacement systems, testing schedules and user manuals Implement new systems, in accordance with the project plan and timescales and facilitate or provide training to users of said new processes or systems Work closely with front end designers and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility, adherence to brand guidelines and user satisfaction About you We are seeking a degree or equivalent IT candidate who has experience with Azure and MS Power Platform, who has extensive experience of systems development and introducing technological change programmes. You'll need to possess expert and up-to-date technical skills, such as MSDN, C#, MSSQL and unit testing to name but a few. In addition, experience of Web development, ASP. Net, MVC and other web scripting e.g. PHP, JavaScript, JQuery would be essential for this role. Given the technical requirements of this role, you must also have experience in source control, API's and build and release management.
